Germicidal UV-C Disinfection
Modules
Abatement Technologies HEPA-CARE germicidal UV-C (UVGI) disinfection
modules irradiate and kill dangerous infectious pathogens. Each disinfection module is equipped with four ultra-high intensity
lamps (156 watts total) that generate exceptionally high UV-C to clean
and sterilize the air. Other powerful features include internal air
baffles that slow the velocity of the airflow and ‘funnel’
it close to the lamps, thereby increasing the duration of microorganism
exposure in the “kill zone.”
|
UV400C Ceiling Module
The UV400C ceiling module mounts conveniently into a 2’ by 2’
drop ceiling panel. It is designed to function as a standalone return
air grill or supply air diffuser in rooms and other areas where air
disinfection can be beneficial, but HEPA filtration is not required.
Protective Environment (PE) applications for this model include patient
waiting areas, ER, outpatient clinics, surgical centers and physician
offices.
|

|
Features of the UV400C include:
- Room-side lamp replacement via hinged access door
- Electrical interlock instantly deactivates lamps when the access
door is opened
- Suspends into a 2’ x 2’ ceiling grid
- Total UV-C output = 156 watts

HEPA-CARE Features & User Benefits
Abatement Technologies HEPA-CARE® Air Purification Systems
can help convert standard patient rooms into CDC-compliant negative pressure
or positive pressure Protective Environments (PE) and Airborne Infectious
Isolation Rooms (AIIR) at a fraction of the cost of typical “design and build” methods.
With far less facility disruption and the flexibility to relocate air
filtration equipment to another room quickly, adding isolation wards
or patient isolation surge capacity to new or existing facilities has
never been easier.
Portable & Ceiling Mounted Operation
Abatement Technologies HEPA-CARE Air Filtration Systems are designed for portable or ceiling-mounted operation in hospitals and healthcare settings. Each unit is equipped with a certified Type A HEPA filter that traps and removes potentially hazardous microscopic particles with an efficiency of 99.99% at 0.3 microns. To remove odors and some volatile organic compounds (VOCs), HEPA-CARE systems utilize activated carbon filters. Optional germicidal UV-C disinfection modules irradiate and kill dangerous infectious pathogens.
Portable air purification models roll quietly to wherever you need them at a moments notice. Used for days, weeks or months at a time, these highly mobile units provide the greatest flexibility and can increase hospital surge isolation capacity planning cost-effectively.
Ceiling-mounted air purification models install flush with the ceiling grid and are the perfect choice for permanent patient isolation rooms. Ceiling mounted models are completely out of the way and offer the highest level of tamper-resistance.

Energy-Saving Motorized Impellers
All models are equipped with high efficiency motorized impellers that are quiet, lightweight and efficient. Compared to squirrel-cage
type blowers, typical power consumption savings can be $500 or more per year when operated 24/7.
High Quality Metal-Frame HEPA Filters
Metal-frame filters are used instead of cheaper particleboard frames because
they are stronger and won’t support microbial growth. Every completed
filter is individually tested and certified, in accordance with Institute
of Environmental Sciences and Technology IEST-RP-CC001.3 performance standards.
All models are equipped with a Type G 99.99%-efficiency filter, with anodized-aluminum
frames and silicone gel seals.
Carbon Absorption to Capture Airborne Gases & Vapors
High-capacity Vapor-Lock® activated carbon filters capture airborne gases, VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and odors. Vapor-Lock filters capture gasses and odors via a process known as carbon adsorption, whereby the gaseous molecules of the contaminants are attracted to and chemically bond to the surface of the carbon.
Aircraft-Type Cabinet Construction
Cabinets are constructed from a durable yet lightweight aircraft aluminum
alloy, and then powder-coated for durability and ease of cleaning and decontamination.
Solid aluminum-rivet fasteners and closed-cell neoprene gaskets ensure much
stronger and more leak-resistant seams than hollow pop-rivets, sheet metal
screws or nuts and bolts.
Tamper Resistant Control Panels and Filter Compartments
Controls panels and filter access compartments feature password
protection or hex-lock latches to limit access and help prevent
unauthorized tampering.
Attractive Design
With their high-tech appearance and white powder-coated cabinets, HEPA-CARE filtration units blend well into almost any hospital setting. |
 |
Safety Certified
HEPA-CARE units have been tested by Environmental Testing Laboratories (ETL),
a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), and carry the ETL (U.S.)
and ETLC (Canada) marks certifying that they comply with applicable OSHA, UL and
CSA electrical safety standards. Filters meet UL900 flammability standards.

Versatile Modes of Operation
Abatement HEPA-CARE Air Purification Systems are engineered to operate
24/7 and can be installed in a number of configurations; with or without UV modules. Some examples:
|
|
|
Negative pressure mode with HEPA-filtered air exhausted directly outdoors through a window or wall:
The unit pulls in contaminated air, filters out contaminants and propels
the filtered air outside the environment to negatively pressurize the
room.
View the animation.
|
|
|
Negative pressure mode with HEPA-filtered air ducted into an exhaust duct above a drop ceiling:
The unit pulls in contaminated air, filters out contaminants and propels
the filtered air outside the environment to negatively pressurize the
room.
View the animation.
|

*This option is for conversion of
existing patient rooms into patient isolation rooms
but should not be used for new facility
renovation
or construction.
|
Negative pressure mode with HEPA-filtered air exhausted into a ceiling plenum:
In this configuration, filtered air from a portable unit in the room
is ducted out the top exhaust port and into the plenum area above the
drop ceiling. If a ceiling-mounted fixed model is used, the unit can
simply exhaust out one or both of the exhaust grills directly into the
space above the drop ceiling.
View the animation.
|
|
|
Continuous air cleaning and recirculation:
The unit is located within the isolation room with no inlet or exhaust
ducting, so there is no affect on room pressurization. This setup accelerates
the removal rate of airborne contaminants and provides supplemental
ACH equivalents.
View the animation.
|

|
50% negative pressure exhaust and 50% negative
pressure:
Air is ducted to the outdoors from one outlet
for negative pressure and recirculated into the room from the other.
Running a HEPA-CARE unit in this configuration at high speed
provides the ability to clean the air in some rooms up to 30 times
per hour, without having to exhaust that much conditioned air
from the building.
View the animation.
|
|
|
Positive pressure:
HEPA-CARE Air Purification Systems can also be located within the room
(as shown) or in an adjacent area to provide HEPA-filtered supply air
and positive room-pressurization for Protective Environments and other
sensitive areas.
View the animation.
